Match Preview – Huddersfield at Home – 23 January 2016

Brighton face a 16th placed Huddersfield side in what looks to be another close game for the Seagulls. Thankfully we managed to scrape a 1-0 win vs Blackburn last Saturday which ended the long barren spell of no goals in 8 hours of Football. Bobby Zamora also scored on his 35th birthday!

A win could see the Albion leapfrog Burnley and Derby, placing them in 3rd. A win for Huddersfield could see them move up to 13th.

 Last 5 games

The Seagulls were in a horrific run having lost their last three games however an early goal from Bobby Zamora granted Brighton the three points in a closely fought game. Chris Hughton’s men currently have a disappointing 4 points from their last five games. However the recent away win will give the Seagulls some hope going into these three consecutive home matches.

Huddersfield are currently unbeaten in 5 games, picking up a very solid eleven points in the process. (Winning versus Preston, Bolton, and Charlton)

Likely Goal scorers

Zamora has an impressive 37.5% shots to goal ratio so give him three chances and one of them will end up in the back of the net! Murphy and Knockaert could be players to put your money on. Both are very attack minded and came very close to scoring versus Blackburn.

Nahki Wells has scored 10 goals for the Terriers this season. Fellow teammates Emyr Huws and Jamie Paterson also have 5 each.

We are looking forward too…

Seeing new signing Anthony Knockaert making his first appearance at the Amex! A very exciting signing and a quality player at this level.

Fact of the day:

The first ever hatrick at the Amex was against Huddersfield. Leonardo Ulloa scoring the three goals.

Huddersfield are in very impressive form so this match looks to be very close. Based off our current home form, a Huddersfield win would not be a massive surprise. However with the possibility of LuaLua returning for tomorrow’s match,  Knockaert bolstering our attack, the squads steely determination, and of course my slight bias! I feel like Brighton will get the better of Huddersfield. Injured players are starting to return making the squad much stronger than it has been for the past month. The players will be even more motivated to get some form back and not let this opportunity slip. The opportunity being our three consecutive home matches in the coming weeks.

Score prediction:

Albion: Knockaert

Hudderfield: N/A
