Who could be joining the Seagulls this window? Find out below.
The Belgian left-back has been made an ‘outcast’ at West Brom and has barely featured under Tony Pulis. He is desperate to play football and has been linked with Brighton in recent days. Pocognoli could be good competition for Gaetan Bong and would also give us a solution when Liam Ridgewell returns to the Portland Timbers.
There’s nine days to go (in this transfer window) so we’ll see. Poc did OK considering he hasn’t played for a while, I thought he came in and did alright. He’s desperate to play football, we understand that.”
A season long loan seems to be the most likely option for the Albion if they decide to make an offer.
This rumour has come up very recently. The former Seagulls front man is currently plying his trade with Bournemouth. However he is reportedly very unhappy being in Bournemouth and if that is true a move along the South Coast would make sense, right? He is definitely willing to drop down to the Championship, after going on loan to Reading last season. If you didn’t know he actually still lives in Brighton.
To me this move would make a lot of sense, a proven Championship striker who knows where the net is, and I’m sure most fans would welcome him back to aid with our promotion push. He did get 22 goals in our promotion season from League One and managed an impressive 30 goals in the 2012/2013 season for… Palace which shows his goal scoring pedigree that we all know he has. Leeds are also linked with a move for the striker.
Done Deal – Steve Sidwell
The 33 year old central midfielder has joined the Seagulls on loan until the end of the season. If you didn’t already know, he briefly played for the Albion on loan in the 2002/03 season making 12 appearances in the process. He was Fulham’s shining player in their last season in the Premier League, scoring 7 goals in 38 appearances.
Sidwell will offer Premier League quality and provide great competition to star midfield duo Beram Kayal and Dale Stephens. My understanding is that Hughton will decide whether to permanently sign the midfielder depending if we get promoted or not (due to high salary).
Rajiv Van La Parra
The 24 year old Dutch winger had a great loan spell at the Albion, scoring 2 brilliant goals and also grabbing himself 2 assists in the space of 5 games. He would provide great competition for Knockaert, LuaLua, Murphy, and March in the future and could fill in the role of ‘impact sub’ when needed.
However since his loan stint with Brighton, Rajiv has attracted interest from Huddersfield and Middleborough who also want to sign him up. He has also come out and said he is happy to stay at Wolves (if he gets game time).
“For me it was just about not playing – that’s why I wanted to go on loan. Everything else I am happy here, happy with my team mates, with everyone at the club, I don’t have a problem with anyone.
“It was only the game time, I wasn’t happy with not playing and now I’m in the team so I’m getting my confidence back on the pitch.
Sources suggest that Brighton have recently sent a director out to Uruguay. A Potential player we could be looking at is 22 year old striker Junior Arias who currently has 9 goals in 14 games for Uruguayan side Liverpool FC.
