Match Preview – 7000 Seagulls at MK Dons

Yes 7000 Seagulls’ fan will be travelling up to Milton Keynes to hopefully watch Brighton come out on top in another ‘must win’ fixture. Both teams have a lot to fight for. Chris Hughton’s men have the best chance of automatic promotion in recent years due to other teams dropping points here, there, and everywhere (despite still being outsiders). Meanwhile MK Dons occupy 21st position. Dangling precariously one point from safety.

Last 5 games

Brighton have won three of their last five games. Wins against Bristol City, Leeds United, and Reading have helped push them up to second place. The Seagulls have also drawn blank against Preston and promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday. This leaves Brighton with 11 points out of a possible 15. A very solid return amongst some tough fixtures.

MK Dons have had a mixed set of results in their last five games. Three draws, one win, and one loss means they have acquired a meagre return of 6 points out of a potential 15. An impressive draw with Hull and a solid 2-0 victory against QPR stand out from their recent results.

Last time out:

Solly March scored an absolute screamer. Jamie Murphy also scored before Nicky Maynard scored a freak from 25 yards out. Final score: 2-1.

Familiar faces…

Caskey

Jake Forster-Caskey is currently plying his trade on loan from the Albion. Hopefully he will finally be able to nail a first team place next season.

We are looking forward to…

Seeing an army of over 7000 Brighton fans going up to watch the game. The atmosphere should be electric!

Fact of the day:

Brighton have kept five consecutive clean sheets for the first time since May 2004. Only on one previous occasion (October 2000) have the Seagulls recorded six in a row in the Football League.

Verdict:

Both teams will be fixated on getting the three points for completely different reasons. Failing to win for MK Dons could see them slide into the relegation zone with only eight games to go. On paper Brighton are the stronger side. This factor combined with the fact they have managed to keep five clean sheets in a row really puts them as favourites. Everybody at the club knows that winning these games is crucial especially due to the facts Derby and Middlesbrough have been faltering of late. Personally, I feel Brighton will come out on top (they certainly need too!) The Seagulls will edge this match 1-0 (hopefully).
