Brighton and Hove Albion have smashed their transfer record on Dutch International, Davy Pröpper. The 25 year old midfielder joins until 2021 for a fee believed to be in the region of £10,000,000.
Pröpper played 34 games in the Eredivisie for PSV Eindhoven last season. In the process, he helped the Brabant based club finish 3rd and qualify for the Europa League with 6 goals and 7 assists to his name.
Pröpper has experience playing across the spine of the team, either in a deeper role or in more advanced positions behind the striker.
Davy has both Champions League and Europa League experience under his belt. He played Bayern Munich and Albion’s recent visitors Atletico Madrid last season, but was unable to help PSV qualify to the knockout stages.
Chris Hughton said: “He’s a strong competitor as a central midfielder and will complement our existing midfield players, and he is also a really good age at 25. We are absolutely delighted to welcome him to the club.”
This signing will add more depth to Albion’s midfield and gives Chris Hughton more valuable options due to Pröpper’s versatility in playing more defensively or behind the striker.
Pröpper will be available for Brighton’s opening fixture against Manchester City on Saturday 12th. What do you think of Brighton’s new signing?
